Cornea is in front of the iris which is the colored part of the eye. Cornea meets the light coming onto the eye and takes it to retina and realizes the seeing function. Therefore, transparency of the cornea plays an important role in our seeing function. When cornea loses its natural transparency, seeing loss and blurred vision emerges.
Seeing function can be regained by changing the cornea tissue with another when cornea loses its transparency. In cornea transplantation operation healthy cornea tissue taken from the cadaver is transferred to the receiver.
