Cross eyedness emerges as the result of both eyes losing its being parallel. Every human has six muscles each outside every eye. When one of these have lesser strength or is stronger than person become cross eyed. While one eye looks straight the other may look inside, outside, up or down. In some cases, cross eyed condition can be seen in both eyes. This condition can be permanent or temporary.
Other than the weakness of the muscles around the eye, paralysis of the nerves which manage the movement of the eye muscles can also result in cross eye. Head traumas, inflammatory diseases, high blood pressure in advance age, diabetes may also form partial paralysis of the nerves leading to the eye. In this case, treatment for cross eyed and paralysis can change depending on whether the paralysis is permanent or not. Being cross eye due to paralysis of the muscles, causes lazy eyes in children and double vision in older age groups.
